ABOUT · BUILDER · SYSTEMS ARCHITECT

Almost three decades
of building.

I have worked through several generations of technology — from the web of the 1990s to airport systems, digital platforms and now artificial intelligence.

The thread never really changed.
Understand the problem. Understand the system. Build something that works.
THE STORY

The tools changed.
The curiosity stayed.

I started building for the web when an HTML page still felt revolutionary. Then came databases, web applications, enterprise systems, mobile, platforms, automation and AI.

What has always interested me is not just the technology itself. It is what technology allows people to do — and how different pieces can work together to create something useful.

THE JOURNEY

A career built in layers.

1998
THE WEB

Starting with HTML.

My first experiences building digitally began with the web. A page, a browser and the possibility of publishing something anyone could see.

2000s
DATA & APPLICATIONS

Pages became systems.

Static websites gave way to databases, dynamic applications, content systems and architectures capable of handling real workflows.

2001–2020
YVR · AIRPORT TECHNOLOGY

When systems have consequences.

For almost two decades at YVR, I worked in an environment where technology had to perform in real time for real operations and real passengers.

2010s
PLATFORMS

Building beyond the website.

My work expanded into portals, internal systems, automation, applications and increasingly complex digital experiences.

2022
AI

A new layer.

Generative AI did not replace what came before it. It added a new capability to all the layers I had already learned.

NOW
KATALUMÉ · LAB · BUILDING

Still building.

Today I build products, systems, AI tools, prototypes and sometimes simply an experiment to understand a new idea.

BUILDER FIRST

Show me
what you built.

I enjoy theory. But I learn much more when something actually has to work.

Building forces you to encounter the constraints, trade-offs, bugs, incorrect assumptions and details that diagrams never show.

That is why I think of myself as a builder first.
HOW I THINK

A few principles that survived the technology.

01

Functionality before cosmetics.

A beautiful interface cannot compensate for a system that does not work.

02

Diagnose before you automate.

The right solution is not always more technology.

03

Build for tomorrow.

Good architecture means tomorrow’s requirement does not require starting over.

04

Keep humans in the system.

The more capable technology becomes, the more responsibility and judgment matter.

PERSPECTIVE

Multiple languages.
Multiple cultures.
One way of building.

TODAY

I’m still building things
that have to work.

Katalumé is now my commercial home for building solutions with clients. Dookun.com is where I keep the journey, experiments and thinking behind that work.
